Tether

Privacy

A short, human privacy note.

Tether only works if older adults and their families trust it. This page is a plain-language summary of how we treat your information during the pilot. A formal policy will go live before paid signups open.

Consent comes first

Tether is designed for consented voice check-ins. Before any check-in happens, we explain what Tether is, what it records, who sees the summary, and how to stop. Each session also opens with a fresh reminder.

What we collect during the pilot

From caregivers signing up: contact details and a short note about your family. From voice check-ins your loved one agrees to: a transcript of the call, plus derived signals (mood, topics, the result of one light activity, things worth following up on) used to build the caregiver summary. Audio retention is opt-in.

Who sees the summary

Only caregivers your loved one has approved. Care-circle access is opt-in and can be changed.

What we never do

We never sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers. We only use what you give us to run Tether and to talk with you about the pilot. You can ask us to export or delete your information at any time.

Removing pilot-interest information

Submit the pilot request form with the same email and write “remove my pilot-interest information” in the note field. A teammate will handle the request by hand until we set up a dedicated privacy inbox.

What Tether is not

Tether is not a medical device, diagnostic or screening tool, emergency service, or substitute for professional care. If something is urgent, contact local emergency services or a qualified clinician.

Tether is also not covered by HIPAA — it’s a wellness and connection tool, not a medical service. We tell you this plainly because we’d rather be honest than imply a protection that doesn’t apply. We still treat your information carefully: clear consent first, data kept to a minimum, opt-in audio, and no selling or ad-sharing, ever.
